This may be a little weird, but sometimes my family travels with our own pillowcases. It’s not a germaphobe thing and it’s not a comment on the boring bedding provided by our hotel. Okay, it’s a little bit of that last one, but it’s also just a cheerful thing to add a little personality to our room. When we do, the people who clean our room usually make the beds with the pillows on top of the cover, instead of under it. They get us. With Star Wars weekends happening at the Disney parks right now, and the world all a-buzz about the new movie coming out later this year, my project for Undercover Tourist this month undoubtedly had to be Star Wars related. Given my love of the traveling pillowcase and the ample availability of fabric featuring Chewbacca, Han, Luke, Yoda and the rest of the crew, it was easy to make an out-of-this-world impact with this quick project.
You can find the complete instructions to make this pillowcase at Undercover Tourist. It uses the simple burrito method with French seams and sews up in no time. You could make them for the whole family!
When I was finished making this one, my husband gave me the puppy dog eyes and asked in his Sam Elliot, Trace Atkins-deep voice (I’m not kidding) “What are you gonna to do with that? It’s pretty cool.” Guess who’s been resting his sleepy head on it every night since? Maybe we’ll get a chance to take it with us to visit Star Wars Weekends one of these days!
I just have one question for the makers of this particular print though – Where is Princess Leia?!?!?
