Living out in the country most of my life, I don’t have a big issue with bugs. We aren’t buddies or anything, but we have an understanding – they stay out of my house and I let them live. That goes for everyone except for the wasps. I would probably burn my house down to get rid of one of those little monsters. Let’s focus on the cuter members of the insect family and their relatives today so I don’t have nightmares tonight.
Let’s start with something really sweet and pretty, like these Monarch Butterfly Wings from Buggy and Buddy. These look really easy to make.
Help out those struggling bees with this DIY Bee House from Confessions from a New-Old Homeowner.
I am a mosquito magnet, but even I wouldn’t mind having these cute Buzzing Mosquitos from To the Moon and Back around.
These Paracord Dragonflies from Paracord Guild look like a great camping craft.
These Ladybug Pretzels from Meaningful Mama are sweet in all kinds of ways.
These Recycled Golf Ball Ants from Craft Klatch would be fun to stick in outside flower pots. Or on someone’s picnic blanket when they’re not looking.
For some reason, there aren’t really any spider crafts that don’t focus on Halloween. Maybe because they’re crazy-creepy? This little bell and wire guy I shared here a while back might be able to bring spiders out of October.
These Light Up Fireflies from Apartment Therapy are adorable! I’ve never seen a firefly in person, but it’s on my list.
This Rock Caterpillar from Nellie Bellie would be a bright addition to the garden, and fun to make with some pint-sized painters.
I’ve done my best to show you the cute side of the insect world here, but if you’re just not having it, how about these Citronella Candles from Garden Therapy?
There’s a big hint here about what May’s Hot Pad will be – I’ll be sliding in with that before the month is over next week!
