I think camping is one of those things most people either love or hate. Maybe there’s some grey area there for some, but I fall firmly in the love camp. I enjoy being outdoors, and I especially like that cooking and clean up are minimal. No makeup and a pony tail. No phone or computer. As I write this, I’m starting to wonder why I don’t do it more often!
I’ll start with an option for those of you who either don’t like camping, or it just isn’t an option for you. This Flameless Fire Pit from Bldg 25 has all the charm, but none of the mosquitos.
We tent camp, and our favorite spot is in a very rustic campground, so there are no showers. I have long hair, so after day one it has to be tamed. These Knit Headbands from Made Everyday are a must-have.
It’s nice to bring along a blanket or tablecloth for a variety of reasons when you’re camping. This Bandana Quilt from One Good Thing by Jillee just looks like it belongs on a camp table.
Keeping the kids entertained can be a challenge when you’re enjoying the great outdoors, electronics free. Make these Travel Craft Sticks from Desert Chica and remind them there’s life beyond Pokemon.
While you’re at it, you can make something for even the oldest in your group to enjoy. These Popsicle Stick Playing Cards from Penolopy Bulnick on Instructables will keep the biggest “I miss my phone!” complainers entertained.
If you wonder why you’d need hot glue while you’re camping, you’ve never spent the afternoon building racing boats from Arizona Tea cans. My husband probably would have loved to have these Hot Glue Matches from ShakeTheFuture on Instructables along on that trip.
When we camp food is as simple as possible – either made ahead or low effort. But we still have to eat, and this Rolled Camp Kitchen from Today’s Creative Life keeps everything organized and easy to access.
There’s something special about waking up to breakfast outside. I love this idea for Campfire Bacon from Zestuous.
I think I’ll have to try these Omelettes in a Bag from Beyer Beware. I hope they’re good, because the idea is genius.
I almost always make some version of trail mix to take along, but I think these Organic Dark Chocolate Trail Energy Mix Bites from Simply Taralynn might be a nice change of pace.
