Halloween is a struggle for me. With the kids grown and out, and no trick-or-treaters out here in the boonies, there aren't many ways left for us to celebrate. Especially since it always seems to fall on a weekday (seriously, is Halloween EVER on the weekend?) But I really enjoy seeing all the ways others keep it from being sucked into the ThanksgivingChristmasNewYear vortex. And I haven't completely given up on the idea I may eventually go to a Halloween party dressed as Wonder Woman (using this pattern, with a little longer bottoms, of course) or Princess Buttercup, providing I can convince my husband he would make a wonderful Dread Pirate Roberts.

This costume DIY from Shari's Berries also comes in adult and kid versions, but honestly they can't compete with this guy.
This garland from Swoodson Says would be a great way to use up some Halloween fabric scraps, and it's a good one to keep in mind for future holidays as well.
I love that this costume from Artsy Fartsy Mama goes the extra mile and adds some drawn-on stitches to the wearer.
