If you read my most recent Friday Favorites post, you know I mentioned something big I would share with you today. It was the best Christmas gift I could imagine, but I promised to keep it under wraps for a little while. So, what’s the big deal?
I’m going to be a grandma!
My daughter and her husband told us during the holidays that they have a bun in the oven. In the two months that have passed since, my daughter developed a baby bump, felt the little one start wiggling, and we got to see the heartbeat on an ultrasound. The newest member of our family is due on August 26th, and we’ll get to find out if it’s a boy or girl on April 6th.
My husband and I couldn’t be more excited! He is a baby magnet, with an ultra-deep voice that rarely fails to calm an upset kid. That, and they turn him into a big teddy bear. I can’t imagine what it will be like with his own grandkid!
I already have a box labeled “Baby” in my sewing room. So far, it contains a panel for a baby quilt, a soft book panel, pacifier clips, baby hair clips, and a cross stitched design I made when I was pregnant with my daughter but never used for anything. I’m trying to restrain myself from making all the things, but it’s hard. Expect to see a baby project or two here over the next few months!
