Like many girls who grew up when I did, I was, and still am, a big fan of Wonder Woman. To this day, I have far more related memorabilia than a woman my age probably should, but I'm not giving any of it up. In fact, I thought it was time to add to it with this month's mug mat. Who's with me?

To make this one, you'll need:
Cut the pieces from the fabric as shown, using the pattern. Cut the backing and two pieces of fusible fleece from the rectangle.
If you're using the fusible web for the star (Wonder Under, etc.), cut a piece slightly larger than the star, iron it to the felt, trace the star onto the paper and cut out.
Stitch the left red piece to the yellow, overlapping the corner 1/4" on the left.
Press up with the seam toward the red. Stitch the right red piece onto the top edge with the right corner 1/4" past the right edge.
Press up with the seam toward the red again. Trim the tail on the left even with the edge.
Stitch the blue to the bottom edge of the yellow. Press the seam toward the blue.
Trim to match the size of the backing if necessary.
Fuse the fleece to the back side of the front and back pieces. If you're not using fusible fleece, adhere a bit of interfacing behind the area where the star will go.
If you used fusible web, iron the star onto the yellow. If not, pin it in place. Stitch around the edge with the embroidery thread.
I happened to have some metallic gold embroidery thread, so I stitched across the top and bottom of the yellow section as well. A little Lasso of Truth action.
Pin the front and back right sides together. Stitch around the edge, leaving 3" open at the bottom. Clip the corners and turn right side out. Press, turning in the opening.
Stitch around close to the edge.
All set to hold your favorite Wonder Woman mug.
I mean, who doesn't want to start their day feeling super heroic?
